Accurate Step Counter with Cal

Privacy policy

Effective date: 7 November 2026

In short

This policy explains what the Accurate Step Counter with Cal apps for Android and iPhone (“Accurate Step Counter with Cal”, “we”, “us”) do with your information. Where the two differ, the policy says so. If you have questions, write to dealskhazanacontact@gmail.com.

1. Data that stays on your phone

Accurate Step Counter with Cal stores the following only on your phone. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

Exception, only if you choose it: with sync on (Google, or Apple on iPhone), a backup copy of your profile, goals, settings, step history, game progress, weight log, medicines, appointments, blood pressure and blood sugar readings you typed in, meals, sleep log, mood check-ins and day notes is kept online for you (see “Google sync” in section 3). Photos, walk routes, Health Connect and Apple Health data are never included.

Meal photo scan (calorie tracker, optional)

When you tap “Take a photo” or “Choose a photo” in the calorie tracker (and agree the first time), Accurate Step Counter with Cal makes a small copy of that one photo on your phone and sends it, over an encrypted connection, through our server (Google Firebase, United States) to Claude, an AI service from Anthropic, which lists the foods it sees with estimated amounts, calories and nutrients (such as fibre and vitamins). Anthropic processes the photo for us as a service provider to return that list; under its terms for business customers it does not use the photo to train its models. We do not store the photo: it is not saved on our server or in backups, and it is never used for advertising. On your phone, only a small copy is kept as the meal’s picture in your meal list, in app storage that is excluded from backups; it is deleted when you delete the meal or your local data. The list comes back to your phone, and nothing is saved until you check it and tap Save. Our server only counts how many scans each account and phone made today (to keep a daily limit), using your Firebase user ID and the same one-way hash of the Android ID used for the free trial. Calories are estimates for everyday logging, not medical or diet advice. If you tap “Report a wrong result”, the food list and your comment (not the photo) are sent to us like a feature request (see section 3).

Packaged food. “Scan barcode” uses Google’s code scanner (inside Google Play services, so the app needs no camera permission) and sends only the barcode number through our server to Open Food Facts, the open food database, to look up the product and its nutrition values; nothing about you is sent to Open Food Facts, and we only count lookups per account per day. “Read the label” photographs a nutrition table and reads its text on your phone with on-device text recognition (Google’s on Android, Apple’s on iPhone): that photo never leaves your phone and is not saved. Product data comes from Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org) under the Open Database License.

Accurate Step Counter with Cal does not collect your location (GPS walk routes stay on your phone, see above), contacts or photos (except a meal photo you choose to scan, see above). The advertising ID is used only by the ad SDK on Android (section 6), and a one-way hash of your phone’s Android ID (on iPhone, of a random ID the app keeps in the iPhone’s Keychain) is used only for the free trial (section 5).

App lock (optional)

If you turn on App lock (Me → Advanced settings), Accurate Step Counter with Cal stores on your phone only: a salted hash of your 4-digit PIN, the recovery email you enter, and a master key that is encrypted with your phone's Android Keystore (on iPhone: kept in the iPhone’s Keychain, only on this device, never in iCloud). On iPhone you can also unlock with Face ID; the app never sees your face data. None of this is sent anywhere while you use the app.

Only if you tap Forgot PIN and enter that same recovery email, Accurate Step Counter with Cal sends us your recovery email, your master key and basic details to identify the request (your anonymous app ID, your Together nickname and friend code if you have a profile, app version, phone model and language). Our team uses them only to send the master key back to that email by hand. The request is deleted after 30 days, or when you delete your account. After you unlock with the master key, the app creates a new master key, so the one you were sent stops working.

Usage statistics (optional)

After setup Accurate Step Counter with Cal asks once whether you want to share anonymous usage statistics. Nothing is collected unless you tap Allow, and you can change your choice at any time in Me → Privacy and data.

If you allow it, Accurate Step Counter with Cal uses Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC) to collect:

It never includes your steps, distance, calories, weight, heart rate, sleep, Health Connect data, location or walk routes, progress photos, nickname or anything you type. Accurate Step Counter with Cal turns off the advertising ID, ad storage and ad personalisation signals, and the statistics are never used for advertising or linked to Google Ads. We use them only to understand which features people use and to improve the app. Google keeps this data for up to 14 months under the retention setting we choose. See Google's privacy policy.

2. Health Connect

Accurate Step Counter with Cal’s use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Health Connect data is used only to show you your own health and activity charts and insights inside the app, for example your steps, resting heart rate, weight trend and, in the sleep tracker, each night’s sleep and sleep stages from your watch or another app, and in the blood pressure and blood sugar trackers, readings from your monitor’s, glucose meter’s or CGM app (each only after you tap Connect or Sync). It is never sent to our servers, never shared with friends, clubs or leaderboards, never sold, and never used for advertising or to decide credit or insurance. Step totals shared online (section 3) come only from your phone’s own step sensor, never from Health Connect or a watch.

Apple Health (iPhone)

On iPhone, Accurate Step Counter with Cal can read, only after you allow it in the Apple Health permission screen: steps, heart rate, resting heart rate, sleep, weight, blood pressure and blood glucose. It only reads (it never writes to Apple Health) and does not keep its own copy. The same rules as for Health Connect apply: Apple Health data is used only to show you your own charts and insights in the app, is never sent to our servers or to any other company, never shared with friends, clubs or leaderboards, never included in sync backups or iCloud, never sold, and never used for advertising, marketing, analytics or to decide credit or insurance. You can change what the app may read at any time in the Health app → Sharing → Apps.

3. Data stored online (only if you join Together)

Nothing is stored online until you open Together, choose a nickname and accept the community rules. Then Accurate Step Counter with Cal creates an anonymous account (a random user ID; no email address, phone number or real name) and stores:

DataWhyWho can see it
Nickname, avatar (chosen from preset pictures), country To show you to friends, clubs and on leaderboards People you connect with; also strangers on Country and Global boards if you turn that on
Year of birth To check you are at least 13 and to place you in an age-group board (other people see only the age group) Not shown to others
Friend code, sharing choices, the date you accepted the community rules To run your account You choose who to give your friend code to
Daily step totals from your phone’s step sensor (the last 7 days, updated while the app is open), only while “Share my daily steps” is on Friends, clubs, duels, weekly leagues and leaderboards; days over 60,000 steps are flagged as unusual Friends, club members and, if you turn it on, Country and Global boards
Your game XP (sent with your step totals, only while “Share my daily steps” is on) To show your rank icon next to your nickname on boards and in friends lists; it can only grow by a limited amount each day The same people who see your steps
How many game badges you earned (sent with your step totals, only while “Share my daily steps” is on), and whether you have a paid Premium subscription (from the check described in section 5) To show the badge count when someone taps you on a board, and a “Supporter” tag next to paying supporters The same people who see your steps
Live race progress: steps counted by your phone’s sensor since a race you joined started To run the race The other people in that race
Online challenges you create or join (Play → Challenges): the type, dates and preset name, your daily step totals on the challenge’s days, how you placed and the challenge badges you win To run the challenges, rank everyone and give badges Everyone in that challenge. Official and public challenges can be seen by anyone in the app; there, if your profile isn’t public, others see “Private walker” instead of your nickname. A public challenge you create shows your nickname as its creator.
Friends and friend requests, clubs (including club names you create), races, duels, Hot Potato games, league groups, cheers (preset only, no messages), blocks and reports To run these features and keep the community safe The people involved; reports are seen only by the Accurate Step Counter with Cal team

You can turn off step sharing and public boards at any time in Me → Account and sharing. When sharing is off, no step totals are sent.

Messages you send with “Request a feature”

If you send a message from Me → Request a feature (you don’t need to join Together for this; the app creates the same kind of anonymous account if you don’t have one), we store: the type you picked, the title and details you typed, your email address only if you choose to add one, the app version, your phone’s system (Android) and the app language, with your anonymous user ID and the time. No step counts, health data, weight or photos are sent. Only the Accurate Step Counter with Cal team reads these messages, to improve the app and, if you added your email, to reply to you. They are never shown publicly, sold or used for advertising. They are deleted when you delete your account; otherwise we keep them for as long as they are useful for improving Accurate Step Counter with Cal, up to two years.

Sync: sign in with Google or Apple, backup and restore

Google sync (Me → Google sync) is optional. If you sign in with Google, Accurate Step Counter with Cal receives your Google account’s email address, name and a Google account ID from Google. They are used only to sign you in, show which account you are using and let you get your data back on another phone (account management). Your existing Accurate Step Counter with Cal online account (friends, clubs) is linked to your Google account. Accurate Step Counter with Cal gets nothing else from your Google account (no contacts, Drive files or other data).

While you are signed in, Accurate Step Counter with Cal keeps one backup for you, made when you tap “Back up now” and automatically about every 6 hours when you use the app. The backup contains your profile (year of birth, sex, height, weight), goals and goal history, settings and reminder settings, step corrections, daily step totals and active minutes for the last 400 days, game progress, walk-game progress, your weight and water logs, day notes, medicines with their dose history and doctor appointments, your sleep log and your mood check-ins. It never contains progress or medicine photos, walk routes, Health Connect, Apple Health or watch data (heart rate, watch sleep and others) or your purchase status. The backup is encrypted in transit, stored on Google Firebase servers in the United States and can only be read by your own signed-in account through Accurate Step Counter with Cal’s server; it is never shown to other people, sold or used for advertising. Delete it at any time in Me → Google sync → Delete backup; deleting your account deletes it too. Signing out keeps your data on the phone and the backup online until you delete it.

Sign in with Apple (iPhone). On iPhone you can sign in with Apple instead of Google. Apple gives us a user ID for your Apple account and, only the first time and only if you agree, your name and an email address (you can choose Apple’s “Hide My Email” relay address). They are used only to sign you in and get your data back, exactly like Google sign-in above. When you delete your account, the app also asks Apple to remove Accurate Step Counter with Cal’s access to your Apple account.

4. Service provider: Google Firebase

Online data is stored and processed by Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Cloud Functions), operated by Google LLC, in the United States. To block fake apps, Firebase App Check asks Google Play Integrity (Android) or Apple App Attest (iPhone) to confirm that requests come from the real app; this sends no personal data beyond a technical check of the app and device. Google acts as our data processor (service provider) and handles the data only on our behalf. Like any internet service, Google’s servers receive your IP address and basic technical request information to deliver the service; we do not use them to track you. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Apart from the optional usage statistics above and the ads in section 6, Accurate Step Counter with Cal uses no tracking tools.

5. Premium subscription

If you subscribe to Accurate Step Counter with Cal Premium, the payment is handled entirely by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iPhone). We never receive your payment details. To give Premium perks that run on our server (the higher daily meal scan limit and the “Supporter” tag), the app sends your subscription’s Google Play purchase token (on iPhone, the App Store subscription’s transaction ID) to our server, which asks Google Play (or Apple) whether it is paid and until when. We keep only the end date, the plan and a one-way fingerprint of the token, linked to your account, and delete them when you delete your account. Premium removes ads and adds cosmetic extras; it never changes rankings or rewards.

Free 3-day Premium trial

You can try Premium free for 3 days without any payment details, once per phone. Only when you tap “Start my free trial” (or open the offer), the app sends our server a one-way hash of your phone’s Android ID (on iPhone, of a random ID the app keeps in the Keychain; never the ID itself) with your anonymous user ID. The server keeps the start and end of your trial so that it can’t be started again after reinstalling. This is used only to prevent abuse (fraud prevention), never for advertising, and is deleted when you delete your account. Nothing is charged when the trial ends; Premium simply turns off.

6. Ads (free version) and no selling

The iPhone app shows no ads and contains no ad SDK. On Android, the free version shows a banner ad on the Play tab using Google AdMob (Google LLC). Before any ad is shown, Google’s consent form asks for your choice where the law requires it; ads are personalised only if you agree, and you can change your choice in Me → Privacy and data → Ad privacy choices. To show and measure ads and prevent ad fraud, the AdMob SDK on your phone collects your advertising ID, app-set ID, IP address (and the rough location Google derives from it), ad views and taps, and basic device and diagnostic information, and sends them to Google. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Premium users see no ads.

The ad SDK never receives your steps, health data, sleep, mood, medicines, weight, walk routes, photos or nickname. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we never use health or activity data for advertising.

7. Wellness, not medical

Accurate Step Counter with Cal is a wellness app, not a medical device. Steps, distance, calories, active minutes and other numbers are estimates to help you stay active. They are not medical advice and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. Talk to a doctor before starting a new exercise programme. Medicine reminders are a reminder tool only: always follow your doctor’s instructions; the app never suggests doses. The sleep tracker is a wellness record, not a medical device. The mood tracker is a personal wellness diary: it does not diagnose or treat any condition and is not a substitute for professional help.

8. Children

Accurate Step Counter with Cal is not for children under 13. The app asks for your year of birth during setup and does not let anyone under 13 continue, and the online features check the age again. If you believe a child under 13 has given us data, write to dealskhazanacontact@gmail.com and we will delete it.

9. How long we keep data

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights, such as to access a copy of your online data, object to processing or complain to a data protection authority. Write to dealskhazanacontact@gmail.com and we will answer within 30 days.

11. Security

Online data is sent over encrypted connections. Our database rules block direct access to other people’s data; every request goes through our server code, which checks it. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the data we hold to a minimum.

12. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
